You can also report your emigration at the counter of our town hall (Huis voor de Stad). Please note that you need to make an appointment. You can make an appointment online (Dutch only) or by calling us at 14 0492.
You must report your emigration to the municipality at least 5 days before departure. Please note: as soon as you report your emigration, you will be immediately deregistered.
When should you report an emigration?
You must file a report if you move abroad for more than 8 months within a 1-year period. These 8 months do not have to be consecutive.
Who can report the emigration?
If all family members from the address are moving abroad, you can report this online with DigiD. The report can be made by:
- yourself (if you are 16 years or older)
- a parent, guardian, or caregiver for minor children
- cohabiting spouses/registered partners for each other
- cohabiting parents and adult children for each other
Obligation to appear in person
If not all family members from the address are moving abroad, you must visit the House for the City (Huis voor de Stad) in person. This is called the obligation to appear in person.
Always make an appointment. You cannot visit without an appointment. If the notification also applies to minor children, they must be present at the appointment. A representative cannot make this report on your behalf.
After processing your report, you will automatically receive a certificate of deregistration.
If you need a certificate of deregistration at a later time, request it from an RNI municipality. These are the following municipalities: Alkmaar, Almelo, Amsterdam, Breda, The Hague, Doetinchem, Eindhoven, Groningen, Goes, Heerlen, Leeuwarden, Leiden, Nijmegen, Rotterdam, Terneuzen, Utrecht, Venlo, Westland, Zwolle.
